Bar Application

Today, I completed and mailed away the bar application for the state of Virginia. Actually, I had been working on the application for several weeks, but the finishing touches proved to be an all-day affair. It was an extremely difficult and tedious task. The instructions are scattered throughout several portions of the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners' website and in differed portions of the printed forms. It is a total mess. And yet, each instruction ends with a statement like, "Not only will we deny you a license to practice law if you give us three copies instead of two, but the Board will also seek you out and burn down your house since the extra copy might cause one of our professional bureaucrats to think about something." All right, that's a bit harsh. But, the whole process was one of the least fun ways to spend an afternoon and $600.
