Jeff Gordon captured his second straight victory this weekend in the Auto Club 500 at the California Motor Speedway. Unlike last week's race at Talledega, the Auto Club 500 was relatively incident and drama free. But, it was an exciting day for Mr. Gordon. Gordon led the most laps and took home the checkered flag. Jimmie Johnson drove a car owned by Gordon to a second place finish. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fought a poorly handling car all afternoon and finished a lap down in 19th place. However, that was good enough for Junior to hang on to first place in the Nextel Cup standings. Jimmie Johnson remained in second place but managed to trim the deficit down to 25 points. Gordon is now only two points behind Johnson and is still in third place.
No race next week in honor of Mother's Day.
